Ceramic tiles are a common choice for flooring, backsplashes, and even walls. They’re durable and easy to clean, but can be a bit tricky to drill into. With just a few small tips, however, drilling into ceramic tile is a very easy process.
The first step is to gather the right tools:
1. A standard hand drill will work.
2. A masonry bit in the size of the hole you want to drill.
3. A screw and hammer (to mark the spot you're going to drill)
Next, Since the tile is slippery, you want to mark the spot where you want to drill the hole. Use the screw for this - place the tip of the screw on the tile and hit it gently with the hammer.
This Action should chip the tile just a little bit so the drill bit will not move and slide from the spot you want to drill.
Use the regular drilling mode - Make sure your drill is NOT in Hammer mode
Now you can place the bit mark and start drilling. Start slow and apply steady pressure as you drill, but don’t push too hard—let the drill do the work.
If you’re drilling through a particularly thick tile, you may need to stop every now and then to let the drill bit cool down. This will prevent the bit from overheating and breaking the tile.
I'll soon upload a good value drill bit I use, and a video showing this process
